Affordable Healthcare for Every Patient
Starting 1 November 2025, all GP consultations at Advanced Health Medical Centre in Bankstown will be 100% bulk billed for patients with a valid Medicare card.
That means no out-of-pocket costs for standard GP visits—just simple, accessible healthcare when you need it most.
These changes are part of a major national reform by the Australian Government to make seeing your GP easier and more affordable for everyone. The new funding supports practices like ours to provide bulk billed consultations for all Australians, not just children or concession card holders.
What Bulk Billing Means
When a service is bulk billed, your GP bills Medicare directly, and you pay nothing.
Previously, bulk billing was limited mainly to concession card holders and children under 16. Now, from November 2025, any patient with a Medicare card can visit their GP and have their consultation covered completely.
For you, this means:
- No gap payments for standard GP consultations
- No need for concession status to access bulk billing
- More affordable healthcare for individuals and families
- Encouragement to see your GP early for health issues without worrying about the cost
Why This Change Matters
Healthcare costs have been rising, and many Australians have had to delay or skip GP visits because of out-of-pocket fees. These reforms aim to change that by making it financially viable for practices to bulk bill everyone.
For Bankstown families, this means you can book a GP appointment with confidence knowing that your consultation will be fully covered by Medicare—whether it’s a routine check-up, managing a chronic condition, or getting advice about your child’s health.
Does It Cover All Services?
The new bulk billing arrangements apply to standard GP consultations.
Some specialised services (for example, certain procedures or longer appointments) may still attract a private fee, but these will always be explained to you before your appointment.
At Advanced Health Medical Centre, transparency is important to us—you’ll always know if a service isn’t covered before proceeding.
What You Need to Do
There’s nothing extra you need to sign up for.
If you have a valid Medicare card, your consultation will be bulk billed automatically.
Just bring your Medicare card to your appointment, and we’ll take care of the rest.
If you’re unsure whether your service is eligible, our reception team can confirm it for you at the time of booking.
Our Commitment to Accessible Care
At Advanced Health Medical Centre, we believe cost should never be a barrier to good health.
This change allows us to continue offering high-quality, patient-centred care while ensuring every person in our community can see their GP when they need to—without worrying about the bill.
We’re proud to be part of this positive step forward for healthcare access in Bankstown.
